The Commercial Photography two-year A.A.S. degree is designed to prepare students for employment in the photographic industry. The program trains students to develop strong skills in both traditional and digital photographic techniques. Students learn darkroom skills for black and white and color processing and printing as well as digital image manipulation, enhancement and color management. Students learn technical and creative control of studio lighting and all camera formats. Students develop visual language skills to effectively communicate through strong composition, lighting, color and perspective.
Graduates from this program will be prepared for entry-level or higher employment positions as photographers, photographer's assistant or photo technician in areas such as: wedding, portrait, advertising, corporate, and editorial/stock photography. Graduates work as employees of other photographers as studio/location personnel specializing in digital imaging applications or in their own business as freelance photographers.
