Admission Criteria for CIM Associate Degree

General Admission Requirements:

  1. The following criteria must be completed:
    1. Admission to Owens Community College
    2. High School Transcript or GED
    3. College transcripts (if applicable)
    4. ACT and/or SAT scores
    5. Evidence of high school algebra and chemistry with a “C” grade or better
  2. A minimum of 60 points must be accumulated before applicant will be considered for the degree based on the following criteria and percentages:
    Total grade point average30%
    English/Composition Grades30%
    Math/Science Grades30%
    ACT/SAT Scores10%
     100%
  3. ACT composite score will break all point score ties.

Students should submit all official applications, test scores, and transcripts.  Completed applications are reviewed bimonthly.  All Cancer Information Management and Health Information Technology courses must be completed within four (4) years from initial entrance in the program.  All students enrolled must achieve a “C” or better in all courses required for this degree/certificate.

Admission Criteria for CIM Certificate

General Admission Requirements:

  1. The following criteria must be completed:
    1. Admission to Owens Community College
    2. High School Transcript or GED
    3. College Transcripts
    4. Evidence of certification, licensures etc. (if applicable)
  2. Must have completed an associate or bachelor degree.
  3. Must have pre-requisites of the following completed:
    1. Language of Medicine/Medical Terminology
    2. Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology
    3. Pathophysiology
