New College Credit Plus Students
How To Get Started With CCP
The College Credit Plus program at Owens Community College is a great way to earn college credit while you’re still in high school. To enroll as a CCP student, you’ll need to verify your eligibility and complete a few steps with your parent/guardian and high school counselor.
Owens CCP Eligibility Requirements
Owens offers 3 pathways for CCP eligibility. You’ll also need to meet a few additional requirements. Admission into Owens Community College does not guarantee CCP eligibility.
Pathway 1: 3.0 GPA
If you have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, you’re automatically eligible for CCP at Owens.
Pathway 2: Standard Eligibility Scores
You must test at the “college-ready” threshold or above in at least ONE section of the ACT, SAT or Accuplacer test to be considered eligible for CCP.
Pathway 3: 2.75 GPA and Relevant High School Coursework
You’re eligible for CCP if you have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 2.75-2.99 AND a final grade of A or B in at least one of these classes:
- English 10 or higher
- Algebra I or Algebra II
- Chemistry
- Any AP or IB course
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- You are subject to the academic probationary measures set by the state of Ohio (PDF) if you fail to achieve an adequate GPA.
- You agree to abide by all Owens policies and procedures, as well as any policies and procedures specific to this program. This includes the state’s First 15 Rule (PDF), requiring that you must complete 15 credit hours in Level I courses (PDF) before progressing to Level II courses.
- You must participate in a mandatory CCP college orientation program.
- You’re required to meet with a CCP Academic Advisor prior to registration.
- Your continued enrollment in the program is based on successful completion of coursework.
Selective Service Requirement
If you are a male aged 18 or older, you are required by law to provide your Selective Service number to Owens. If you turn 18 during the semester in which you are enrolled, you must provide your Selective Service number to Owens within 30 days of your 18th birthday.
If you do not submit your Selective Service number, you will not be considered a CCP student for that current semester. You will be responsible for any tuition, textbooks or fees associated with the classes for which you are enrolled.

CCP Enrollment and Registration Checklist
Once you’ve confirmed your eligibility, it’s time to enroll at Owens. As a CCP student, you cannot register for classes at Owens on your own. To get started, work with your parents and high school guidance counselor to complete some forms and plan your schedule.
You must complete these steps in chronological order.
Step 1: Apply for admission to Owens.
Applying online is fast, easy and free. When you reach the “Application Type” field, select the “College Credit Plus” option.
Step 2: Send in your permission slip.
You and your parent or guardian must sign a permission form acknowledging that your CCP courses at Owens may include mature subject matter as defined by Ohio law. You can submit your completed form online.

Step 3: Set up your Ozone student portal.
Ozone is your portal to everything you’ll need to manage your student account at Owens. Look for your Owens username and student ID number in the welcome letter you received via email and postal mail.
After you log in, feel free to explore. If you need help accessing your account, contact the IT Help Desk.

Step 4: Send in your high school transcript.
Check with your high school guidance counselor to make sure you’re still eligible to participate in College Credit Plus.
If you’re continuing in the program, ask your counselor to send Owens a copy of your official high school transcript using the CCP Transcript Upload Form linked below.
If you are a homeschool student, your transcript must be completed by your grading authority.
Step 5: Submit the parent signature form.
If you’re a homeschool student or attend a private school, ask your parent or guardian to complete the Parent Signature Form. Scan and email your completed form to ccp@owens.edu.
You do NOT need to complete this form if you’re a public school student.
Step 6: Register for classes.
As a CCP student, you cannot register for classes without your CCP academic advisor. Courses are open to all Owens students and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Popular courses fill up quickly, so it’s important to schedule your CCP advising appointment early in the registration process.
Option 1 – Take Classes at Your High School: If you’re planning on taking classes at your high school to earn college credit, you do NOT need to meet with a CCP academic advisor to schedule your classes. Your high school counselor will handle registering you for your courses.
Option 2 – Take Classes at Owens: If you know exactly which courses you want to register for, please email your selections to your assigned CCP Advisor or the College Credit Plus email address.
- For the Toledo-area and Findlay-area Campuses, email Tyler Kish or Mikenzie Blunt.
- Be sure to send your request from your Owens student email address and include your OCID in your email.
Step 7: Confirm your schedule.
Once you’re registered, take your complete Owens schedule to your high school counselor for approval.
Step 8: Submit Funding Letter
If you’re a homeschool student or attend a private school, submit your State funding letter to College Credit Plus. You do not need to complete this step if you are a public school student.
If you missed the April 1 deadline to apply for funding, you can submit a funding application through the State from September 1 to November 1 at 5 p.m. for the following Spring semester only. Visit College Credit Plus for Nonpublic School Families for more information.
