Owens Community College served as President George W. Bush's first stop after delivering his State of the Union address. During his visit in January 2004, President Bush praised Owens and the Integrated Systems Technology Program (now known as the Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Systems Technologies Program). President Bush's visit also coincided with the announcement of a $250 million initiative for community colleges to train workers in high-growth industries.
