The Basics The Basics
Here, you will find information about Career Pathways, O*NET (Occupational information Network), career assessments, and emerging careers (alternative or non-traditional careers).  It’s recommended that all viewers start here and become familiar with the terminology before using the modules.

Career Access

Career Access
Career Access is an interactive, web-based, job readiness tutorial that provides self-paced instruction (in text and audio formats) with interactive learning activities.  Career Access is comprised of five (5) job readiness tutorials that focus on different components of the job search process.

The five tutorials are:

Video Gallery The Video Gallery
An easy to use interface allows access to over 460 career videos (with text captioning).  Users can also access O*NET information, the nation's primary source of occupational information, providing comprehensive information on key attributes and characteristics of workers and occupations.

Career Explorations Career Explorations
Still searching for that ideal career?  Career Explorations main purpose is to help you identify your ideal career pathway based on simple interests surveys.  Once your career pathway is determined users can view career videos and learn which skills, interests, and abilities are required to be successful in that career. 

Hot Careers Hot Careers
When deciding on career path it's a good idea to consider all of your options. So don't limit your career options just because you think the job you want is meant for a person of a specific gender.  Hot Careers gives you a look at the non-traditional careers options offered at UHCC.

Networking Networking
It is estimated that the average person knows about 250 people.  And each of those people knows, in turn, another 250 or so people.  This means that for each new person you meet, you gain access to a potential pool of 62,500 people that could offer you that perfect job. This exercise will help you identify your potential network and provide ways to improve it.

The Interviewer

What if you could practice for a job interview?  Well, that’s exactly what this exercise is all about.  The virtual interviewer will ask you 12 random job interview questions and give you 15 seconds to answer.  Sample responses are provided giving you insight to what interviewers are looking for.
