ENG 111P - Composition I Plus
Focuses not only on writing but also on reading and critically engaging various texts. Students will read and write essays with a variety of rhetorical purposes: Observing, explaining, investigating, evaluating, problem solving and arguing. Also includes library and electronic research culminating in a research paper. Full process approach to writing using the formal elements and conventions of academic prose. (Required in all degree programs)
Fulfilling all requirements of the first course in the composition sequence (ENG 111, Composition I), ENG 111P provides an additional contact hour designed to address the needs of student writers who could benefit from extra support. ENG 111P implements process-oriented and active-learning strategies that engage students as stakeholders in their own learning. Because of duplication in course content, students who have taken ENG 111 (Composition I) should not take this course.
