Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion


The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force is an ad hoc working team, co-chaired by Jason Morris, Executive Director of Human Resources, and authorized by Dr. Dione Somerville, President.  (The Task Force supersedes the former equity working committee, under the prior administration of the interim president 2021.)

Task Force Charge

The Task Force is charged with developing a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan for Owens Community College.  The Task Force should have the Strategic Plan substantially complete during the Fall Semester 2022, in order to align with and help guide the College’s overall strategic planning efforts to begin in Fall Semester 2022.

Members

The suggested composition of the membership is for a multi-disciplinary team of 7 members and the 2 co-chairs for a total of 9.

  • Two members from the Student Services Division
  • One member representing the Findlay Campus
  • Two faculty members
  • Two members representing a cross-section of the College employee community

Employees who are interested in volunteering may self-nominate themselves.  The membership will be finalized by the President at the start of Spring Semester 2022.

Guidelines

The proposed Strategic Plan should at a minimum include a framework to best support the College community in achieving the ideals expressed in the Equity Statement and Resolution approved by the Board of Trustees on February 10, 2021 (Exhibit 1 Attachment).  The Plan’s scope should be reflective of the entire College.  The Task Force should ensure that the Plan addresses the strategic level, articulating overarching priorities as well as objectives, performance indicators, and assessment methods.

The Task Force should feel free to obtain any information that will be useful to complete its charge.  At a minimum, the Task Force should consider the following:

  • Owens Strategic Plan (2019 – 2022 as well as information from the development of the next strategic plan)

  • Strategic Enrollment Management Plan
  • BGSU Equity Audit
  • Institutional Research Equity Data
  • Comparable institutions’ best practices
  • External Equity Data
  • Modern Think Empowered Employees – Staff results
  • Modern Think Empowered Employees – Faculty results
