Testing Services strongly encourages all students to study for ACCUPLACER. You can prepare for ACCUPLACER by taking advantage of the study tools and resources offered on the ACCUPLACER website (links listed below). Use these tools to become familiar with the types and format of ACCUPLACER test questions. They can help you identify the academic areas where you may need a little help, and prepare to improve.
If you need more than an online review to help you refresh your academic skills, the College Preparation Course will help you learn skills to support your success at Owens through in-depth review and classroom instruction. You must bring a valid, government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, or passport. It is also helpful to either know or have your OCID number if you have already completed an admission application. You may not bring a personal calculator. A calculator is provided on the ACCUPLACER test. The test is untimed, and on average, takes about two hours to complete. No family, friends, or children are allowed in the test room, nor are food or drinks. Please read through Testing Services' rules prior to coming to test.
The ACCUPLACER placement test provides an onscreen calculator for students to use on specific questions. ACCUPLACER does NOT permit the use of personal calculators on the Math portion of placement test.

To apply for a proficiency examination please contact Testing Services by calling (567) 661-8378 or visit one of the Testing Centers on the Findlay-area and Toledo-area campuses. A Testing Specialist will determine a student's eligibility for a proficiency exam.
Payment for passing a proficiency exam can be made through a student’s Ozone account. There is a fee of $50 for each credit hour earned, per proficiency exam.
If you have not earned a high school diploma or GED you are still able to take the placement test, but you must be aware of how this impacts financial aid eligibility. Effective July 1, 2012, all students must have earned their high school diploma or GED in order to qualify for federal financial aid. Students are charged $50 for each credit hour earned, per proficiency. If a student attempts a proficiency and does not pass, there is no charge.

You must present a valid photo ID. Some proficiency exams allow you to use a calculator. All other items must be placed into a locker, which we will provide. Please familiarize yourself with the rules of the Testing Center prior to your arrival.

Once a student takes a proficiency exam, it is sent to the respective Academic department for grading. Once Testing Services receives the results by the Academic department responsible for the grading, students will receive notification of exam results in their Owens Community College email account. Grading time varies by exam and Academic department.
ACCUPLACER is an untimed, computerized test that evaluates a student’s skills for appropriate placement in English, Math, and reading courses. Students will receive their results immediately upon test completion.
