The Arts are Still Alive

More than 100 community members, Owens faculty, staff and students showed their support for the arts on April 10, 2014 by attending The Arts are Still Alive, the 10-year celebration of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts that also celebrated 10 years of academic arts programming.

Jointly presented by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and the Owens Community College Foundation, The Arts are Still Alive proved to be a great success connecting the performing and visual arts community.

The event started off with a presentation by Michael Sander, Chair of Fine and Performing Arts which commemorated the original Grand Opening Gala from August 2003 and recognized industry supporters Great Lakes Sound, Khone Photography, Mid-West Photography and The F.J. Westscott Company for their continued support of Owens fine arts programs.

Dr. Renay Scott, then Provost, was also recognized for her continued support of the Fine and Performing Arts programing.

Over 75 student volunteers were present to help guests experience the Fine and Performing Arts through hands-on activities representing each area of the arts.
