Music Education/Performance Concentration

Department of Fine and Performing Arts

Music Education/Performance Concentration, AA (Owens Code: MEPC)

This concentration prepares students with an interest in music education or performance who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university and complete a bachelor’s degree. Students should tailor their Owens program as closely as possible to the requirements of their four-year of choice.

Music majors will have the opportunity to hone their skills and abilities on their primary instrument while taking private lessons from professional musicians and performing in an Owens ensemble. Coursework will cover music theory, aural skills, music history and basic piano. A solo recital will complete this course of study preparing students for future auditions.
