International Events

International Education Week 2013 • November 11-22, 2013

International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange across college and universities.

Nationally celebrated over a two-week period this year, the Owens Community College Office of International Programs and Services continues the tradition with one week of festivities including its annual signature event, the International Celebration that will be held Wednesday, November 13.

Tuesday, November 12

Workshop: "Coming to Terms with our Common Humanity" by Dr. Lorna Gonsalves
3:30 p.m.

This event is limited to 25 participants. RSVP to the Office of International Programs and Services by emailing elaine_shafer@owens.edu. Location will be provided when you RSVP.

The workshop will serve as a foundational step toward recognizing our common humanity and capacity to rise above bigotry. The workshop will be interdisciplinary, interactive and action-oriented.

Thursday, November 14

Presentation by the Belgian Exchange Students

College Hall Room 100
The College is hosting five Belgian exchange students this semester and they will give a presentation on their home country and culture as well as what lessons they’ve learned by studying abroad in the U.S.
