Artists often travel long distances seeking the perfect scene to paint, but the artists in this show have chosen to seek out and be inspired by the beauty and unique aspects of landscapes in Hancock County. Both studio and plein air works completed on site are included in this show. The artists meet regularly to paint together in either the Nature Journaling Workshops or the Plein Air Gatherings, programs of the Hancock Park District. They work in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolor, graphite and colored pencil. Visits to Oakwoods, Riverbend, Litzenberg and Aeraland parks throughout the seasons provided much of the subject matter. A variety of approaches, from botanical studies to wide vistas, create a portrait of Hancock County.
