Former Libbey Coach Dawn Cousino Named Assistant Basketball Coach at Owens

   Dawn Cousino, former varsity and JV girls basketball coach at Libbey High School, has been named the new assistant women's basketball coach for Owens Community College.

   "We are very proud to have Dawn join our athletic program. She brings a lot of valuable basketball experience and positive leadership as a coach to our women's basketball team," said Michael Rickard, Athletic Coordinator at Owens.

   Cousino served as the Libbey JV coach from 1995-96 and assistant varsity coach from 1996-97. She also was the JV girls tennis coach at Libbey.

   In addition, Cousino has coached the 3-on-3 Tournament and summer league at the University of Toledo and summer leagues at St. Cecilia High School in Detroit. She also coaches Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) girls basketball for seventh and eighth graders at Rosary Cathedral School.

   A 1987 graduate of St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, she was captain of the St. Ursula team her senior year and was named an Honorable Mention All-City player. She is employed as a paraprofessional in special education at Libbey High School.

   Cousino joins a coaching staff for the Lady Express that includes Head Coach Bill Gomoluch, who was named the 1997 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference women's "Coach of the Year," and Assistant Coach Mark Henry. Last year, the Lady Express won the OCCAC State Championship and earned a 13-1 conference record. At one point during the season, they were ranked No. 6 in the nation among Division II community colleges.
