Two Owens Community College faculty members have been appointed to state boards.
Patricia Wilcox, RN, MSN, CNS, Professor of Nursing/Surgical Technologies, has been appointed to serve a one-year term on the Ohio Department of Health's Food Service Advisory Board. Wilcox, who lives in Waterville, has taught at Owens Community College since 1973.
The Food Service Advisory Board has a long and distinguished record of contributions to the Ohio Department of Health, to food service sanitation and to consumer protection in Ohio. The board currently is working on the major task of reviewing the 1997 FDA Food Code and considering it in the rewriting of the Ohio Food Service Rules.
Dr. Bettie Gehring, chair of the Early Childhood Education Program, has been elected vice president of the Ohio Children's Trust Fund. Gerhing, who lives in Bowling Green, has taught at Owens Community College since 1994.
The Ohio Children's Trust Fund allocates grant funding to all counties in Ohio for the prevention of child abuse and works with other state agencies to prevent child abuse. Appointed by Gov. George Voinovich, Gehring has served on this board for four years and she is the only educator on the board.
