The Owens Community College men's and women's basketball teams both have
been voted among the Top 10 teams in the nation by the National Junior
College Athletic Association among Division II junior/community colleges.
The Lady Express are ranked No. 9 - their first appearance this year in the Top 10. They also are ranked tenth in the nation for team offense, scoring an average of 80 points per game.
"There have been some setbacks this season, but we're pressing ahead and seeing some good results now," Head Coach Bill Gomoluch said. The Lady Express are 18-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
The Owens Express men's team dropped to No. 5 on the weekly NJCAA list after three consecutive weeks at No. 1. The Express lost two conference games over the weekend to Cincinnati State CC and Sinclair CC. The Express now posts a 18-3 overall record and 7-2 conference record.
"We had a tough weekend, but we're preparing ourselves for what's ahead," Head Coach Jim Welling said, as state and national tournaments approach at the end of this month.
