Owens Express Volleyball Team Voted No. 2 in the Nation

   Continuing to build on a season of success, the Owens Community College women's volleyball team today was ranked No. 2 in the nation among Division III volleyball programs by the NJCAA.

   "This is quite an achievement for us," Head Coach Fred Aubuchon said. "I'm very proud of all our players who really have been putting forth the hard work and effort required to take us to where we are."

   The Lady Express spent the last three weeks ranked No. 3. They have a 9-1 record in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and a 20-9 overall record.

   Four local Owens players also are among today's Top 10 NJCAA individual player rankings:

  • Meredith Hartbarger, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, was ranked No. 4 in digs per game (4.61);
  • Abby Thompson, of North Baltimore, was ranked No. 3 for kills per game (3.43); and No. 5 in digs per game (4.04). She also was voted this week's OCCAC "Player of the Week".
