Owens Volleyball Players Named NJCAA All-Americans

  Two members of the Owens Community College women's volleyball team have been named NJCAA Division III All-Americans.

  Erin Hiser, an outside hitter and team captain for the Owens Lady Express, was named First Team All-American. Hiser is a Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate and the daughter of Jeff and Jane Hiser.

  Hiser is a sophomore Associate of Arts, Elementary Education major at Owens. She also was named MVP by Head Coach Fred Aubuchon, as well as All-Conference for the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and All-Region for the NJCAA Great Lakes Region 12.

  Lori Maloch, an outside hitter for the Owens Lady Express, was named Honorable Mention All-American. She is a Whitmer High School graduate and the daughter of Dan and Carolyn Maloch.

  Maloch is a sophomore General Studies major at Owens. Maloch also was named "Offensive Player of the Year" for the team, as well as All-Conference for the OCCAC and All-Region for the NJCAA Great Lakes Region 12.

  "I'm very proud of the accomplishments of these players. Lori and Erin were our only two returning players and their leadership really contributed to the success of our program this year," Coach Aubuchon said.

  The Owens Lady Express took third place at the NJCAA Women's Volleyball National Championships this year. They also won the NJCAA Great Lakes Region 12 and District championships for the fourth consecutive year and finished the season ranked No. 6 in the nation.
