Owens Celebrates History with "Farewell, Alumni Hall!" Event

Owens Community College will celebrate over 25 years of College history Saturday, February 12 at 2 p.m. with a "Farewell, Alumni Hall!" event for all alumni, students, faculty, staff and area residents.

At 2 p.m., the Owens Express men's basketball team takes on Edison State Community College and then at 4 p.m., the Lady Express face Edison State. Both the men's and women's team currently are ranked No. 2 in the nation by the NJCAA for Division II junior/community college teams.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be raffle prizes, refreshments, parent appreciation, and an introduction of past coaches, administrators and student-athletes. Admission is free.

Alumni Hall has been home to Owens Express athletics since 1974. The Fall and Spring Commencements each year also are held in Alumni Hall. This summer, the College will open the $9 million Student Health and Activities Center, where Commencement will take place and volleyball and basketball games will be played.

"Thousands of students and student-athletes have passed through Alumni Hall and we're proud to celebrate the winning tradition that started here," said Michael Rickard, Owens Express athletics coordinator.
