Owens Optometric/Ophthalmic Students Plan Special Vision Events

  March is "National Save Your Vision" Month and the Optometric/Ophthalmic Technology students at Owens Community College want to help students and campus employees learn more about taking care of their vision.

  Free vision screenings will be available in the College Hall Atrium from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 27 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 29.

  On Thursday, March 30, guest speakers will be making Vision Awareness Educational Presentations in the Audio/Visual Classroom Center Room 125-128:

  • 10 a.m. - Charles K. Dabbs, M.D. "The Aging Eye"
  • 11 a.m. - Angela K. Jackson, O.D. "Maximizing the Low Vision Eye"
  • 12:30 p.m. - Jmarie Coburn, "Sales Techniques - What's Your Style?"
  • 1:20 p.m. Karla Sasse, LDO "Not the Same Old Grind - Your Relationship with the Wholesale Lab"

  These events are free and open to the public.

  "We hope everyone will participate in the vision screenings and stop by to hear our guest speakers educate us about the precious gift of sight," said Dawn DeFalco, Chair of the Optometric/Ophthalmic Program, Health Technologies.
