Owens Hosts Forum with Political Speech Writer

Steve Graves, a speech writer for two Ohio governors and other state politicians, will be the guest speaker at a forum Monday, April 3 at Owens Community College.

The forum will be at 2 p.m. in the Audio/Visual Classroom Center Room 125-128. It is free and open to the public.

Graves served as a speech writer for Ohio governors Bob Taft and George Voinovich, as well as for Columbus mayors Dana Rinehart and Greg Lashutka.

He will discuss using basic speech fundamentals in gubernatorial politics and talk about trends in political communication on a national level. He also will explore the difference between speech writing for clients and for yourself. Graves will invite questions and comments from the audience following his lecture.

This forum is presented through a Speech 101 class, taught by James Hodak, a Communications/Humanities instructor.
