Students can learn to drive a truck in less than six weeks and start a new career through the Truck Driving classes offered this summer and fall at Owens Community College.
The two daytime classes meet from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16 to August 17 or September 10 to October 12 at the Toledo-area Campus, Oregon Road. Evening classes are available from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16 to September 17 or September 10 to October 24.
Students learn to operate tractor-trailer equipment with over-the-road training on city, county and state highways. Students gain experience handling a tractor-trailer in all types of traffic situations. Besides 200 hours of classroom and hands-on training, assistance also is provided in finding employment after successful completion of the class.
Enrollment in the Truck Driving class is open to everyone and formal admission to the College is not required.
This class is offered through the Owens Community College Center for Development and Training. To register for this class, or for more information, call (567) 661-7357 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7357 on the Toledo-area Campus. On the Findlay Campus, call (567) 429-3600.
