Nurse Assistant Training Offered at Owens' Center for Development and Training in Findlay

Your Success Starts Here FINDLAY - Students can start on a new career in the health care field this summer and fall through a three week class in certified nurse assistant training at the Owens Community College Findlay Campus.

The Nurse Assistant Program is offered through Owens Community College's Center for Development and Training (CDT), which is the largest training provider for nurse assistants in Northwest Ohio. CDT is located at 1200 Commerce Parkway, Findlay.

The course meets from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 30 - August 17. The program repeats at the same time, August 20 - September 7. Evening classes are 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, September 10-28.

Nurse assistants care for a variety of patients, including the mentally retarded, the elderly, cancer patients and children. They are one-on-one caregivers and often work in hospitals, nursing homes, home health care agencies and hospices.

Nurse assistants are required by the Ohio Department of Health to be professionally trained and registered. The Nurse Assistant Training Program offered by CDT is state-approved and prepares the nurse assistant to take the state exam.

Basic nursing skills, personal care skills, mental health and social service needs, safety and emergency procedures, infection control and respecting and promoting patients' rights are covered. Two 8-hour clinical days also are included in the course.

Enrollment in the Nurse Assistant Program is open to the public and formal admission to the College is not required.
