Bringing a wealth of professional experience in higher education, Brian Paskvan, Financial Aid Director at Owens Community College, has been hired as the new Executive Assistant to the President.
"We are very honored and excited that Brian is joining the administrative staff within the President's Office," said Dr. Christa Adams, President of Owens Community College. "In his new position, he will be tackling some of the College's most critical initiatives, while also enhancing communications throughout Owens."
His responsibilities also will include monitoring legislative activity that can effect the College and coordinating initiatives between the President's Office and the various divisions.
In his previous position, Paskvan served as the Financial Aid Director at Owens for the past 5 years. Betsy Johnson, Owens Assistant Director of Financial Aid, will serve as the Acting Director.
Paskvan's accomplishments include recently being elected as President of the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA). He represents the state of Ohio on many issues regarding financial aid at the state, regional and national levels. Paskvan has been a member of OASFAA for nine years, previously serving as the organization's president in 1998-1999.
He earned his bachelor's degree in operations management and a master's degree in human resource development from the University of Toledo in 1986 and 1997. Prior to coming to Owens, he served as the assistant director in the financial aid offices at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University.
Paskvan and his wife, Becky, live in Bowling Green and have two children, Todd and Abby.
