Patricia A. Wise's six-year term on the Owens Community College Board of
Trustees will be fulfilled as of September 22, 2002. Wise, a resident of
Perrysburg, has served as Chairman of the Board since June 2001. During
her tenure, she also served as Vice Chairman of the Board from February
2000 through May 2001. Wise has elected not to be re-appointed due to the
demands of her business. An attorney with Wise & Dorner, Ltd., she will
continue to serve on the Board for an additional 60 days or until the
Governor appoints a new trustee.
Trustee Wise stated that she had a very rewarding experience serving on
the Board. "It really helped open my eyes as to how much Owens Community College does for the community. I will be leaving the College with a very competent, strong administrative team - it's no wonder the College is in such great shape."
Under the leadership of Trustee Wise, the College has begun construction
of a 75,000 square-foot Center for Fine and Performing Arts, seen record
enrollment growth and begun the process to relocate its Findlay-area
Campus. However, according to Wise, the highlight of her tenure "was the hiring of President Christa Adams, Ph.D. She has proven to be a tremendous asset to the College." Trustee John Moore and Wise served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Selection Committee that identified Dr. Adams as a candidate for the President's position.
Jack Sculfort, Vice Chairman, will assume the Chairmanship upon Trustee
Wise's departure. A Nominating Committee will be appointed in November to
elect new officers at the final meeting of the calendar year. The new
officer terms will run for a time period of one year.
"Patricia has done a wonderful job as Chairman, continuing a great tradition of leadership, both of the Board and College, and should be commended for her efforts and invaluable contribution," Trustee Sculfort said. "The Board will miss her and wishes her well in the future."
Sculfort added, "I hope to continue that tradition and, working with the Board, will look to lead the College into the future as the Findlay-area and Toledo-area Campus enrollment continues to grow, and as the College's mission widens throughout the community."
