Owens Community College named Laura Moore as the new Manager for Alumni
Affairs. Her responsibilities will include coordinating the production of
the College's alumni-related publications, special events and annual
giving initiatives. She begins her new position at Owens on Monday,
"We are excited that an individual with Laura's extensive experience in community relations and event planning will be managing the College's alumni initiatives," said Gary Dettling, Owens Vice President of College Advancement. "Her outstanding leadership will heighten Owens awareness among its more than 20,000 graduates. In addition, this position will be key for the College to further enhance its community relationships."
Prior to joining the College, Moore spent the past 18 years with Dana Commercial Credit, a subsidiary of Fortune 500 Dana Corporation in Toledo. Since 1996, she has served as the executive assistant and special events coordinator, managing groundbreaking, ribbon cutting and open house ceremonies for community- and government-related initiatives. Her responsibilities also included establishing, managing and producing yearly corporate events for university visits, community relations and senior management meetings.
In addition, Moore was instrumental in the implementation of a corporate wellness program and she organized many of the company's community service activities. While at Dana, she also held the position of executive secretary from 1986-96, after having served in various positions, which included payroll and benefit administrator and administrative assistant.
Moore holds a bachelor's degree in business education from Bowling Green State University. Active in the community, she is involved with the Junior League of Toledo Inc., serving as the organizational chairman of their Town Hall Lecture series. As part of the Junior League's Toledo After Hours fundraiser, Moore was able to secure former U.S. President George Bush and U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to serve as speakers for the event. She also is a member of the All Saints School Advisory Council, Maumee Valley Girl Scout Association and the corporate campaign chair for the United Way of Greater Toledo.
Her accomplishments include being a key figure in the organization receiving the prestigious Dana Commercial Credit Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award in 1996. A native of Sidney, she now resides in Perrysburg.
