Want to know if one of your keepsakes is worth more than just sentimental
value? Sign up today to learn about the world of antiques and collectibles
as Owens Community College hosts a two-hour "Show and Tell" class on
Monday, October 28.
The "Show and Tell" class will occur from 6-8 p.m. at the College's Workforce and Community Services Division Room 167, which located on Tracy Road in Northwood. The event is open to the public.
Ted Powers from Ancestor House Antiques in Toledo will serve as host for the event. A collector of antiques for over 35 years, Powers has experience appraising private collections, antique shows and auctions. He has extensive knowledge in antique collectibles, art glasses, oriental rugs, coins, coin-operated machines, watches, clocks, art pottery and collectible autos.
"Whether it's a family heirloom, or a garage sale find, attendees are welcome to bring in their antique for an appraisal," said Andrea Thompson, Owens Coordinator of Brochure Classes. "Ted Powers will examine each antique before giving a bit of a history lesson about the piece."
Thompson added, "It's really quite amazing the incredible surprise people feel when they discover they have valuable, unique and historically-significant items."
The registration fee for the class is only $10. For more information, or to register for the class, call (567) 661-7357 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7357.
