Owens Express Holds Baseball Tryouts

Your Success Starts Here Interested student-athletes are invited to the open tryouts for the Owens Community College men's baseball team 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, July 28 at the baseball complex on the Toledo-area Campus, Oregon Road.

Led by Head Coach Rich Pivoriunas, the Express finished the 2001 season with 35 victories, the most in Owens baseball history, and won its second consecutive Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) championship. The team also reached the No. 3 national ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

The baseball program is moving from Division III to Division II next season, allowing the College to offer scholarships to pay for tuition, fees and books for its student-athletes. Scholarships are still available.

Owens Express players must be full-time registered Owens students this fall. For more information on open tryouts, call Coach Pivoriunas at (567) 865-5621.
