Owens Community College Hosts Largest College Preview Night in Northwest Ohio, March 11

More than 100 colleges and universities from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania will visit the Toledo area as Owens Community College hosts the largest College Preview Night in Northwest Ohio on Tuesday, March 11.

Sponsored by the counseling staffs of 18 local high schools in Wood and Lucas counties, the event runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the College's Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) and Audio/Visual Classroom Center on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo. Admission to the preview night is free.

Throughout the evening, high school juniors and seniors and their parents will have the opportunity to visit with representatives from the various colleges and universities and pick up important information about admission requirements, financial aid, student activities and academic program offerings.

Attendees also can hear presentations on financial aid, planning for college, preparing for the ACT test and college planning for students with disabilities and special needs. The informational sessions will occur throughout the event.

"College Preview Night is a great opportunity for high school students and their parents to visit with admissions representatives and to learn about the variety of educational opportunities available after high school," said Dr. Bill Ivoska, Owens Interim Vice President of Student Services. "Owens Community College is excited to once again host an event where students can take the first step toward their career aspirations by meeting with two- and four-year academic institutions from the surrounding Midwest region."

In addition to the public and private colleges and universities present, several area bank representatives will be available to provide information on student loans. Military branches will be on hand to discuss admission to military academies, the ROTC and other scholarship-related programs.

Students and parents also can meet with high school counselors during the event to learn more about the various colleges and universities through informal question and answer sessions.
