Owens Community College Hosts Express Softball Camp,
Owens Community College will offer area softball players the opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of the sport as the College hosts a two-day Express Softball Camp, Saturday-Sunday, March 1-2.
The softball camp will offer two separate sessions. Saturday's session will stress the fundamentals of hitting and defense, while pitching and catching will be the focus on Sunday. The event will run daily from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Owens' Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens Community College is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo.
Camp instructors will include Owens Express Head Coach Mickey Arquette and Assistant Coach Emily Drain. Youth ages 12-18 will receive instruction on softball skills, which will include an evaluation of each player's hitting and fielding techniques. They also will learn about custom exercises for softball and gain tips on improving hitting, pitching and fielding.
Parents and coaches are invited to attend the camp to listen and observe at no additional charge.
