Owens Community College Television Commercials Receive Regional Awards for Marketing Excellence
Paving the way in marketing higher education to the Northwest Ohio community, Owens Community College's television commercials recently were honored by The Advertising Club of Toledo for its creative excellence at an award-winning level. The commercials produced by the College's Public Relations and Marketing Office, in collaboration with the marketing and communications firm Hart Associates, were chosen among 340 regional entries in a variety of advertising categories to receive six prestigious ADDY Awards.
Among the six awards presented to Owens and Hart Associates was The Advertising Club of Toledo's distinguished Best of Show Award for the television commercial, titled "College Affordability Apple". The Best of Show recipient(s) is chosen based upon a panel of eight judges' overall consensus on honoring an advertising initiative, which epitomizes extraordinary and creative marketing at the highest level. This award is only presented if the judges determine an entry is worthy of such an honorable distinction.
"The College's Public Relations and Marketing Office was charged with the task of creating television commercials that reflected the level of quality our faculty and students display each and every day here at Owens," said Jennifer Fehnrich, Owens Director of Public Relations and Marketing. "With support from members of the Owens family, and the creative team at Hart Associates, we were able to do just that. These awards are a reflection of our success in creatively communicating what sets Owens apart - quality and affordability."
Owens' "College Affordability Apple" commercial also received a Gold ADDY Award within the Local (Single Market) / :30 second television category. The College earned two silver ADDY Awards within the same category for commercials titled, "Garage Power" and "Artist Options". Silver and Honorable Mention honors went to "#1 Choice Campaign A" and "#1 Choice Campaign B" for the Local Campaign television category. The awards mark the first time that Owens has received an ADDY in the College's 38-year history.
Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the ADDY Awards were established to honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards within the industry. More than 60,000 advertising projects are submitted annually among the 210 member clubs around the country, making the award program the nation's largest advertising competition.
