College for Kids Summer Program Offered at Owens Community College

Are you looking for a way to spice up your child's summer? Owens Community College will offer area residents the unique opportunity to stretch their imaginations and minds by participating in the College for Kids Program throughout the month of July.

The College for Kids Program will be available in two separate sessions. Session I will run from July 14-17, while Session II will be held from July 21-24. Classes during the four-day summer enrichment program are offered from 8:20-10:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the College's Workforce and Community Services Division, 2249 Tracy Road.

"Whether your child has an interest in surfing the Internet, understanding the weather, speaking Spanish or discovering photography, College for Kids explores a wide range of enrichment classes designed to provide fun and enjoyment for varying ages," said Andrea Thompson, Owens Coordinator of Brochure Classes.

Youth in grades K-7 have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of course areas, which include computers, math and science, sports and activities, arts and languages and personal enrichment. Among the most popular classes are Graphics and Animation for Kids, Face Painting and Jewelry Making, Green Thumb Gardening and Pet Mania, among others. Owens' Cheerleading and Dance Team head coach also will teach a course where participants will learn basic cheers, chants and jumps.

The registration fee per class is only $40 and space is limited. Special discounts are available for those individuals enrolling in additional classes, as well as for two or more children from the same household participating in the program.
