New Medical Office Support Certificate Offered at Owens Findlay-area Campus
FINDLAY - Responding to the growing need of health-related office professionals, Owens Community College Findlay-area Campus is expanding its Office Administration Technology to offer the Northwest Ohio community a new Medical Office Support Certificate Program.
"Actively serving Northwest Ohio's health care community is a top priority for Owens," said D'Naie Jacobs, Owens Chair of Information Technologies." The establishment of a new Medical Office Support Certificate Program will enable the College to help in alleviating the ever-increasing need for health-related office professionals, providing area residents with the necessary training and skills to enter such an important career field."
Jacobs added, " Individuals within this profession play a vital role on the health care team, offering assistance to doctors, patients and nurses. Their significance will only continue to grow as health care needs increase for the aging population."
Created as an entry-level program, the Medical Office Support Certificate is designed to provide students with the skills needed to work in a health-related office environment. Individuals in this profession can be found applying their medical office skills at acute care agencies, physician offices, hospitals and long-term care agencies.
The new certificate program requires approximately 22 credit hours of course work, which includes computer literacy, office software, office administration, medical terminology and other medical office skills. A number of required courses may be completed through the College' s E-Learning curriculum.
All course credit earned through the Medical Office Support Certificate Program can be applied toward an associate' s degree in Medical Office Support at Owens.
