Owens Community College Celebrates 20 Years of Higher Education in Findlay By Hosting an Alumni Reunion, September 25

FINDLAY - Owens Community College will celebrate 20 years of providing higher education to Northwest Ohio residents in the Findlay area by hosting an Alumni Reunion on Thursday, September 25.

Organized by the College's Alumni Association, the Owens Findlay-area Campus Alumni Reunion will occur at Urbanski Catering on Manor Hill in Findlay. The event will feature a brief program, highlighted by the introduction of the new Alumni Association board members, as well as Brian Paskvan, Owens Interim Executive Dean of the Findlay-area Campus.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the reunion will occur the same day as the 20th Anniversary Celebration and Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Findlay-area Campus. The event is open to all alumni who attended the Owens Findlay-area Campus, as well as former and current faculty and staff members.

"Owens Community College's Alumni Association is honored to host a community-wide event which celebrates the success of alumni who attended the Findlay-area Campus," said Janet Meacham, Owens President of the Alumni Association. "The reunion will be a great opportunity for individuals to renew old friendships and recall fond memories of their college experience."

Since opening its doors in 1965, Owens Community College has provided higher education to more than 250,000 students. Owens' new Alumni Association is committed to the personal and professional success of alumni and students through the ongoing development of value-added initiatives.

The College's Alumni Association is open to all graduates or students who have successfully completed any credit or non-credit course at the Owens. New members will have the opportunity to participate in the organization's annual Golf Classic, attend Open House activities and serve as mentors to current students and fellow alums.

Owens will commemorate 20 years of continued growth on the Findlay-area Campus and celebrate the future with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on the campus ' future site at the convergence of Township Road 212 and Bright Road. The 20th Anniversary Celebration and Groundbreaking Ceremony is from 12-4 p.m. Events, which are free and open to the public, occurring throughout the day will include an anniversary picnic and open house. Groundbreaking festivities will follow at 2 p.m.

The Owens Findlay-area Campus opened in the fall of 1983 with 201 students attending the first-ever classes. In 2003, Owens set yet another record with 2,623 students enrolled for Fall Semester on the College's Findlay-area Campus.
