Inaugural Juried Student Art Exhibition Opens at Owens' Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery

Owens Community College students will have the unique opportunity to showcase their artistic talents as the Center for Fine and Performing Arts hosts the inaugural Juried Student Art Exhibition, November 22 - December 5.

The College will unveil the inaugural Juried Student Art Exhibition with a reception for the student artists on Saturday, November 22. The event will occur in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts' Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery from 6-8 p.m.

"Owens' Center for Fine and Performing Arts is proud to feature the finest works of art produced by our Fall Semester students," said Dr. Brian Bethune, Owens Chair of Fine and Performing Arts. "This inaugural exhibit is a great venue for Owens students to display their outstanding artistic pieces, enabling them to apply the knowledge obtained within the classroom into a ‘real world' setting."

Bethune added, "I anticipate the artistic expressions to be very culturally diverse and reflect the creative uniqueness of each student artist."

Owens' Juried Student Art Exhibition will feature artwork by more than 50 students enrolled within Fine and Performing Arts courses. Juried categories will include painting, drawing, graphic and interior design, photography, ceramics and sculpture. Students presenting art for the inaugural Juried Student Art Exhibition are allowed to enter a total of three featured pieces.

A five-person panel, comprised of three Fine and Performing Arts faculty members and two Owens students, will serve as the jury for the inaugural show.

Admission to the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery is free and open to the public, Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. In addition, the Art Gallery is open extended hours on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and during Art Presenting Season performances.
