Owens Cheerleading Squad Performs at Home Men's Basketball Games
Area residents will once again be entertained by outstanding halftime dance routines as Owens Community College's Cheerleading and Dance Team performs at home men's basketball games.
Since its founding as a cheer/dance mounting squad in 2001, the Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team has participated in regional and state competitions, garnering several awards. Such honors include first place finishes at JamFest - Collegiate Open Cheer and the Ohio Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships. In addition, Owens' squad was second at the Cheerleaders of America Open Championship.
"We have a very talented and spirited squad to cheer on the Owens Express this year," said Tracy Reitz, Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team Head Coach. "The success our team has achieved the past three years is a credit to the group's hard work and dedication."
Reitz added, "I expect our squad to build upon previous accomplishments and continue Owens' tradition of cheerleading excellence."
The Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team is led by third-year Head Coach Tracy Reitz. A Perrysburg resident, she is owner of the all-star squad Great Lakes Cheer Academy. Her squads are known for their creativity and have won various awards in all competitions. Coach Reitz previously worked with the National Cheerleading Association organizing various cheer clinics throughout Northwest Ohio.
The Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team members include: Valerie Van Herselt of Rossford (Rossford High School), Christina Thomas of Toledo (Whitmer High School), Melinda Dukes of North Baltimore (North Baltimore High School), Terri Vykopal of Bradner (Lakota High School), Page Pauly of Maumee (Maumee High School), Codylynn Knab of Erie, Michigan (Mason High School), Brittany Draeger of Millbury (Lake High School), Kelly Farquharson of Rossford (Rossford High School), Lindsey Steinseifer of Lambertville, Michigan (Bedford High School), Tara Barnhart of Scotch Ridge (Eastwood High School), Andrea Wolniewicz of Toledo (Start High School), Heather Jordan of Toledo (St. Ursula Academy), Leslie Lane of Perrysburg (Perrysburg High School), Brian Hosler of North Baltimore (North Baltimore High School), Jaqueline Hockenberry of Hamler (Patrick Henry High School) and Cliff Meston of Cleveland (Kenston High School).
