Internationally Known Comedian to Visit Owens Community College, Feb. 5
Internationally known actor and comedian, Troy Thirdgill will bring his humorous antics to Northwest Ohio as he visits Owens Community College on Thursday, February 5. Thirdgill's appearance is part of the College' on- going celebration of National Black History Month.
The event begins at 12 p.m. in the College's Student Health and Activities Center on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo.
"Owens Community College is excited to welcome such a well-respected performer as Troy Thirdgill to Northwest Ohio," said Betty Valentine, Owens Director of Employee Relations and Diversity. "Troy Thirdgill is known worldwide for his creativity and humorous stand-up comedy routine. Individuals who attend this event are undoubtedly in for an enjoyable time with one of the nation's premiere comedians."
Thirdgill began his career on the comedy circuit in 1989. The following year he was honored for his lighthearted humor, receiving the "Young Comedian's Laugh Off" award in Portland, Oregon. A veteran of stand-up for more than 15 years, Thirdgill has traveled around the country visiting colleges and universities and small clubs. Most recently, Thirdgill has taken his routine overseas, performing for U.S. troops in locations such as Belgium, Cuba, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Kuwait, Panama and Singapore, among others.
Although a stand-up comedian by night, Thirdgill also has appeared on various television shows like "In the House" with LL Cool J and the popular hit series "Beverly Hills 90210". In addition, he was given the chance to star in his own UPN sitcom, "The Working Guy".
