Seán Curran Dance Company to Perform At Owens Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Feb. 14
Acrobatics and Irish step dances will take center stage as the internationally renowned Seán Curran Dance Company performs at Owens Community College on Valentine's Day, February 14.
The event begins at 8 p.m. in the College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts Mainstage Theatre on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo.
"The Seán Curran Dance Company will leave those attending their performance in awe," said Amanda Uhle, Owens Operations Manager for the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. "Their dance is both compelling and extremely visual. Truly a sight to behold on stage."
Founded in 1997 by internationally known dancer Seán Curran, the company is comprised of 10 performers known for their ability to express complex emotions and human tendencies through the art of dance. The group moves easily between an array of complex and emotional dances backed with scores ranging from traditional Irish Mouth Music to early 20th century chamber music.
The Seán Curran Dance Company is well known around the world performing at a number of high profile engagements, including the Central Park Summerstage in New York City and Sweden's Danstation Theatre.
Curran, who serves as both choreographer and a dancer, began his training with traditional Irish step dancing as a young boy in Boston. He went on to graduate from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and was quickly recognized for his dancing prowess. He has taught and performed at a host of venues and is recognized as one of the field's leading choreographers.
