FINDLAY – More than 80 colleges and universities from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania will visit the Findlay area as Owens Community College sponsors Hancock County College Night on Monday, March 8.
Co-sponsored by the counseling staffs of nine local high schools in Hancock County, the event runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Findlay High School. Admission to the college preview night is free.
Throughout the evening, high school juniors and seniors and their parents will have the opportunity to visit with representatives from the various colleges and universities and pick up important information about admission requirements, financial aid, student activities and academic program offerings.
Attendees also can hear presentations on financial aid, planning for college, preparing for the ACT test and hot careers of the future. The informational sessions will occur throughout the event.
"Hancock County College Night is a great opportunity for high school students and their parents to visit with admissions representatives and learn about the variety of educational opportunities available after high school," said Dr. Bill Ivoska, Owens Vice President of Student Services. "Owens Community College is proud to once again work collaboratively with area high schools in sponsoring an event where students can take the first step toward their career aspirations."
In addition to the public and private colleges and universities present, several area bank representatives will be available to provide information on student loans. Military branches will be on hand to discuss admission to military academies, the ROTC and other scholarship-related programs.
Students and parents also can meet with high school counselors during the event to learn more about the various colleges and universities through informal question and answer sessions.
