Owens Men's and Women's Basketball Conclude Regular Season Against Edison State, Feb. 28

Owens Community College men's and women's basketball programs will conclude the regular season portion of their schedules with games against Edison State Community College on Saturday, February 28. The women's team will play at 1 p.m., while Express men will battle Edison State beginning at 3 p.m.

Both games will be played at the College's Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo. Admission to home games is free.

The Express women's basketball program has amassed an impressive 20-8 overall record and currently is tied with Lakeland Community College for third place in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) standings. Led by Interim Head Coach Matt Godfrey, their conference record is 9-4.

In recent weeks, Owens has captured victories over Cuyahoga Community College 73-35, Sinclair Community College 67-54, Clark State Community College 79-67 and Lakeland Community College 66-55.

The 2003-04 edition of the men's basketball program has experienced similar success as the women's team. Owens has an overall record of 21-7 and a 6-7 mark in the OCCAC.

Guided by Head Coach Jim Welling, the Express recently has compiled wins over Cincinnati State Community College 89-69, Lakeland Community College 66-63 and Cuyahoga Community College 74-67.

In the coming week, both programs will hit the tournament trail, competing in the NJCAA Region XII Championships.
