Roth Furs Donates Coats To Support Owens Community College Academic Programs
Owens Community College Fine and Performing Arts students will soon have the opportunity enhance their theatrical wardrobe because of a local business' generous donation. Phil Roth, Owner of Roth Furs in Toledo, recently presented an assortment of fur coats to Dr. Brian Bethune, Owens Chair for Fine and Performing Arts, for use as costumes during the College's production season.
"Owens Community College appreciates the commitment that Roth Furs has made to higher education and the students of this College," Bethune said. "These costumes will provide a rich educational component to the Fine and Performing Arts' academic curriculum."
The College's new Center for Fine and Performing Arts opened its doors to students beginning Fall Semester 2003. Owens' state-of-the-art facility houses 19 new degree and certificate program areas. Among the academic program offerings available to students are Commercial Art, Dance, Fine Art, Interior Design, Music, Photography and Theatre. The popularity of the new curriculum was evident in that more than 1,700 students enrolled in Fine and Performing Arts' classes during the fall.
"Roth Furs is pleased to support the College's Fine and Performing Arts and the students aspiring to be this nation's future musicians, artists, dancers, performers and photographers," Roth said.
In addition, Owens' new building features a 500-seat theatre, 50-seat music hall and studio theatre, student exhibit galleries, art and design studios for graphic design, commercial art, painting, ceramics and sculpture, as well as acoustic laboratories for the instruction of dance, piano, vocal and instrumental music, and practice rooms.
