Owens Community College Express Cheerleading Squad Holds Open Tryouts, April 13-16

Prospective high schools graduates and area residents interested in cheering at the intercollegiate level are invited to participate in Open Tryouts at Owens Community College, April 13-16.

The Open Tryouts are from 6-9 p.m., April 13-16, and will be held at the College's Student Health and Activities Center on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo.

Since its founding as a cheer/dance mounting squad in 2001, the Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team has participated in regional and state competitions, garnering several awards. Such honors include first place finishes at JamFest - Collegiate Open Cheer and the Ohio Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships. In addition, Owens' squad was second at the Cheerleaders of America Open Championship. The Owens Cheerleading and Dance Team is led by third-year Head Coach Tracy Reitz.

Express Cheerleading and Dance Team members must be high school graduates. Each participant will be taught a cheer, chant and dance as part of the Open Tryout. No tumbling or mount experience is required. For more information on the Open Tryouts, call (567) 666-0650.
