Spring Juried Student Art Exhibition
Opens at Owens’ Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery
Owens Community College students will have the unique opportunity to showcase their artistic talents as the Center for Fine and Performing Arts hosts the Spring Juried Student Art Exhibition, April 19 – May 7.
“Owens’ Center for Fine and Performing Arts is proud to feature the finest works of art produced by our Spring Semester students,” said Dr. Brian Bethune, Owens Chair of Fine and Performing Arts. “This exhibit is a great venue for Owens students to display their outstanding artistic pieces, enabling them to apply the knowledge obtained within the classroom into a ‘real world’ setting.”
Bethune added, “The artistic expressions are very culturally diverse and reflect the unique creative ability of each student artist.”
Owens’ Juried Student Art Exhibition features 70 pieces of artwork by more than 40 students enrolled within Fine and Performing Arts courses. Juried categories include painting, drawing, graphic and interior design, photography, ceramics and sculpture. Students presenting art for the Spring Juried Student Art Exhibition are allowed to enter a total of three featured pieces.
A five-person panel, comprised of three Fine and Performing Arts faculty members and two Owens students, are serving as the jury for the spring show.
Admission to the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery is free and open to the public, Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, the Art Gallery is open during Art Presenting Season performances. For more information about the exhibition, or the College’s 2003-04 Art Exhibition Season, contact the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at (567) 661-2787 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. ARTS.
