Owens Offers College for Kids Summer Program in July

Are you looking for a way to spice up your child's summer? Owens Community College will offer area residents the opportunity to stretch their imaginations and minds by participating in the College for Kids Program throughout the month of July.

The College for Kids Program will be available in two separate sessions. Session I will run from July 12-16, while Session II will be held from July 26- 30. Classes during the four-day summer enrichment program are offered from 8:20-10:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the College's Workforce and Community Services Division, located on Tracy Road in Northwood.

"Whether your child has an interest in surfing the Internet, speaking Spanish or discovering photography, College for Kids explores a wide range of enrichment classes designed to provide fun and enjoyment for varying ages," said Andrea Thompson, Owens Division Director of Continuing Education.

Youth in grades K-7 have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of course areas, which include computers, sports and activities, arts and languages, and personal enrichment. Among the most popular classes are Graphics and Animation, Face Painting and Jewelry Making, Photography, and Discover Drawing. Owens' Cheerleading and Dance Team head coach also will teach a course where participants learn basic cheers, chants and jumps.

The registration fee per class is only $29 and lasts eight hours, with the exception of the computer class, which costs only $15 and lasts four hours.

To obtain a complete College for Kids Program brochure, or to register, contact Owens' Workforce and Community Services Division at (567) 661- 7357 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7357. A list of courses also is available on the Internet at www.owens.edu
