Owens Community College Express Softball Holds Open Tryouts, July 21

Prospective high schools graduates and area residents interested in playing intercollegiate women’s softball are invited to an Open Tryout at Owens Community College on Wednesday, July 21. The Open Tryout is from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and will be held at the College’s Softball Complex on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from Downtown Toledo.

The Express women’s softball program finished with a 28-9 overall record and a 12-4 mark (second place) in the OCCAC. Led by first-year Head Coach Duane Lanham, Owens advanced to the second round of the NJCAA Region XII Women’s Softball Championships before losing to Grand Rapids Community College. Lanham’s squad was ranked as high as No. 15 in the NJCAA Division II women’s softball poll.
