Owens Community College Names New Associate Vice President of Business Affairs

David Basich Owens Community College has chosen David Basich as the new Associate Vice President of Business Affairs. His responsibilities will include coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the Finance Department, Auxiliary Services, the Bursar's Office, the Procurement Department, the Buildings and Grounds Department, and the Security Department. Basich will assist with the coordination of construction activity on the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses.

In addition, his new position will entail developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures in cash management, debt issuance, investments and internal controls and security. Basich will be responsible for the College's monthly and year-end financial reporting and analysis.

"David Basich brings to the new Associate Vice President of Business Affairs position an extensive background of business management knowledge and experience in higher education," said Chuck Mann, Owens Senior Vice President of Business Affairs. "His promotion strengthens the College as a whole and will enhance our administrative leadership team."

Basich joined the College's administration in 1999 as the Director of Business Services. In that position, he was instrumental in coordinating the daily operations of financial- based activities on the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses. Working closely with the Senior Vice President of Business Affairs, Basich assisted with a variety of initiatives, including the newly constructed Center for Fine and Performing Arts and current construction of the new Findlay-area Campus. In addition, he actively participated in state level endeavors for the College, addressing funding, grants and operational matters. Basich was committed to the implementation of strategic planning for technology and College-based objectives.

Prior to joining Owens, Basich's previous employment included serving as the Project Manager for HCR ManorCare in Toledo and the Systems Design Coordinator for the City of Toledo's Department of Public Utilities. In those positions, he was responsible for assessing, recommending and supporting the technological needs for both organizations.

"I am extremely honored to serve as the Associate Vice President of Business Affairs for Owens Community College," Basich said. "Owens is a leader in higher education. I look forward to working with the College's distinguished faculty, staff and students, and furthering the rich academic tradition."

In the community, Basich has served as a campaign manager for the United Way and a departmental chairman for the Toledo Public Schools' "Adopt-a-School" Program.

His accomplishments include receiving an Exemplary Employee Award from the City of Toledo and a certificate of completion by the State of Ohio's Office of the Treasurer for Public Investment Management.

Basich earned his master's degree in finance and a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering technology from the University of Toledo. He currently resides in Holland with his wife, Diane, and three children.
