Owens Enhances Snack Vending and Beverage Services

Owens Community College, the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired and The Coca-Cola Company are entering into five-year agreement, which will enable the organizations to oversee the College's snack vending and beverage services. Robert McDivitt was chosen by Owens and the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired to serve as the official licensed vender for the Toledo-area Campus, while The Coca-Cola Company will exclusively handle the cold beverage pouring rights for the College.

"Owens Community College is pleased to have Mr. McDivitt and The Coca-Cola Company serving our faculty, staff and students," said Gary Dettling, Owens Vice President of College Advancement. "These two agreements represent a commitment to enhancing the quality of services and resources for the Owens community."

A resident of Perrysburg, McDivitt currently provides vending services for the Youngstown Main Post Office, the Veterans Hospital in Youngstown, the Interstate Highway 80 rest stop in Hubbard and the Department of Jobs and Family Services in Youngstown.

"I am really excited and looking forward to this business opportunity," said McDivitt. "It is a privilege to be serving the student body, faculty and staff at Owens Community College."

On January 3, McDivitt began selling snacks in vending machines at 10 locations across the College's Toledo-area Campus.

In addition to the snack vending services, Owens will be working directly with The Coca-Cola Company to provide all cold beverage services on the College's Toledo- area and Findlay-area campuses. Such cold beverage services include water, fruit juices, and sport drinks.

According to Dettling, the revenue generated from the pouring rights agreement will be poured right back into the College for student-related renovation projects, such as the Fountain View Dining Hall located in College Hall.

Founded in 1886, The Coca-Cola Company is the world's leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of nonalcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups, used to produce nearly 400 beverage brands. The company's corporate headquarters are based in Atlanta, with local operations in over 200 countries around the world.

Owens Community College is the fastest-growing higher educational institution in Ohio with 29 consecutive semesters of enrollment increases. On the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses, Owens serves more than 44,000 credit and non-credit students making it the number one choice for new college students. Owens is committed to providing small classes, personal attention and unmatched affordability.
