The Philadelphia Dance Company Philadanco to Perform At Owens Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Feb. 19

The Philadelphia Dance Company Philadanco Extraordinary dancers of high skill and energy will take to the stage at Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts as the internationally acclaimed, The Philadelphia Dance Company Philadanco performs on Saturday, February 19. The group will appear in the College's Mainstage Theatre at 8 p.m.

"Owens' Center for Fine and Performing Arts is proud to present Northwest Ohio with one of the most extraordinary and well-respected dance companies in the world," said Barbara Barkan, Owens Operations Manager for the Center of Fine and Performing Arts. "With Philadanco's skill and energy on stage, audience members are in for a stellar evening of dance theatre."

Philadanco is a professional company of highly skilled dancers who emphasize innovative works by American choreographers in dramatic programs. Philadanco dancers reach well over 100 million people per year through radio and television, and captivate over 100,000 people with their live shows.

Founded in 1970 by Joan Myers Brown, Philadanco, a non-profit dance organization, performs as many as 50-60 concerts and 45 residencies annually, on both the national and international stage. Philadanco has appeared throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, United Kingdom and the Caribbean, and with many orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Highlighting the Owens performance will include "Back to Bach," a celebration of dance and the music of J.S. Bach, as well as "Labess II" and "Blue." The company will also perform "Gatekeepers," a ballet that symbolizes dancers as soldiers walking toward heaven, searching for the wounded and looking out to make a safe haven for others to follow.
