Owens Men's and Women's Basketball Conclude Regular Home Season Against Cincinnati State, Feb. 19

Owens Community College men's and women's basketball programs will conclude the regular season home portion of their schedules with games against Cincinnati State Community College on Saturday, February 19. The women's team will play at 1 p.m., while the Express men will battle Cincinnati State beginning at 3 p.m.

Both games will be played at the College's Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from downtown Toledo. Admission to home games is free.

The Express women's basketball program has amassed a 17-10 overall record and currently is in third place in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) standings. Led by Head Coach Michael Llanas, their conference record is 8-4. In this week's NJCAA Division II poll, Owens Express women's basketball is ranked No. 26 in the nation.

In recent weeks, Owens has captured victories over Cuyahoga Community College 93-44, Edison State Community College 73-57 and Clark State Community College 86-40.

The 2004-05 edition of the men's basketball program has experienced similar success as the women's team. Owens has an overall record of 24-4 and a 10-2 mark (first place) in the OCCAC. They also are ranked No. 4 in the nation, according to this week's NJCAA Division II poll.

Guided by Head Coach Jim Welling, the Express recently has compiled wins over Edison State Community College 83-60, Clark State Community College 79-53 and Lakeland Community College 74-63.

In the coming week, the Express will travel to Columbus to take on Columbus State Community College on Saturday, February 26. The women's team will play at 1 p.m., while the Express men will take on Columbus State beginning at 3 p.m.
