Owens Toledo-area Campus Hosts College Preview Night, March 9

More than 100 colleges and universities from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania will visit the Toledo area as Owens Community College hosts the largest College Preview Night in Northwest Ohio on Wednesday, March 9.

Sponsored by the counseling staffs of 18 local high schools, the event runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. College tables will be set up in the College's Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC), and presentations will be held in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts and the Math/Science Center. Owens is located on Oregon Road, four miles from downtown Toledo. Admission to the preview night is free.

Throughout the evening, high school juniors and seniors and their parents will have the opportunity to visit with representatives from the various colleges and universities to pick up important information and ask about admission requirements, financial aid, student activities and academic program offerings.

Attendees also can hear presentations on financial aid, preparing for the ACT test and college planning for students with disabilities and special needs, among others. The informational sessions will occur throughout the event.

"College Preview Night is a great opportunity for high school students and their parents to visit with admissions representatives and learn about the variety of educational opportunities available after high school," said Donna Gruber, Owens Director of Enrollment Services. "Owens Community College is excited to once again work collaboratively with area high schools in sponsoring an event where students can take the first step toward their career aspirations."

In addition to the public and private colleges and universities present, several area bank representatives will be available to provide information on student loans. Military branches will be on hand to discuss admission to military academies, the ROTC and other scholarship-related programs.

Students and parents also can meet with high school counselors during the event to learn more about the various colleges and universities through informal question and answer sessions.

For more information on College Preview Night, contact Owens' Enrollment Services Office at (567) 661-7777 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7777.
