Owens' Workforce and Community Services Offers Six Class Home Design Series in May and June

Area residents will have the opportunity to learn about the keys to home improvement and construction as Owens Community College offers a series of six classes as part of a Home Design Program, May 3 - June 7.

The Home Design Program series will occur every Tuesday night from 6:30-9 p.m. at the College's Workforce and Community Services, located on Tracy Road in Northwood.

"Each class in the Home Design series is aimed at educating attendees about successful strategies related to going through the process of home improvement, construction or financing," said Andrea Thompson, Owens Director of Continuing Education. "These comprehensive courses will cover everything from finding the right contractor to saving money on heating your home."

Thompson added, "Whether you're contemplating building a home or if you already are a home-owner, this series offers something for everyone."

Topics covered throughout the Home Design Program series include construction, contractors and the building industry, home design terminology, how to deal with a temporary move during the remodeling or construction process, how to survive the high costs of a kitchen, resolving mortgage riddles and super insulation, and dealing with the rising cost of heating.

Owens' Workforce and Community Services is dedicated to providing customer- driven workforce development and job training. The learning-centered approach focuses on developing and enhancing professional skills to meet the needs of the community, customizing training in the areas of computer applications, allied health education, apprenticeship-related training and skilled trades.

The registration fee for all six classes is only $50 per person. However, if two people register together, the second individual's fee is only $25. For more information, or to register for the class, call (567) 661-7357 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7357.
